Lydia Hall, the Welsh golfer, clinched her fourth WPGA Tour of Australasia title by winning the Vic Open at 13th Beach Golf Links. The 38-year-old from Porthcawl finished four strokes ahead of Australian challengers Kelsey Bennett and Kathryn Norris. Hall ended the 72-hole competition even with par, continuing a pattern of Australian success despite previous wins on the tour being at the shorter 36-hole sprint events.
Reflecting on her victory, Hall said, “I’m really pleased to start the season with a win. Firsts happen for a reason, and this one has taken 18 years to arrive.” She emphasized the historical significance of the win, noting that it’s a milestone she has long aspired to add to her career achievements. Her most significant triumph to date remains the Ladies British Masters title she captured in 2012.
With this win fueling her confidence, Hall now sets her sights on the four WPGA Tour of Australasia–Ladies European Tour co-sanctioned events, whose lineup includes the prestigious women’s Australian Open at Kooyonga and the Australian WPGA Championship at Sanctuary Cove.
Asked about the road ahead, Hall replied, “If I can keep doing what I’ve been doing, I know I still have a chance.” The next steps will reveal how far that confidence takes her as she approaches these major prestige events.
